Corner Passing Game - Players with the ball are put on the outside
of a square. The other players pair up inside the square and designate one
person as the attacker and one as the defender (Attackers wear the same color).
The attacking player must get free of their defender, receive a ball
from any support player and play it back without losing possession. Take
defender away from the player you want to receive the ball from to create
space for yourself. Receive "sideways on: to create more time for yourself.
var 1) Attackers must 2 or 3 touch before returning the ball.
var 2) Must return ball to different support player.
1v1v1 - Player "C" starts on the endline of a 45x20 rectangle split
into 3 zones, w/ player A defending in zone 1 and player B defending in zone
3. C dribbles into Zone 1, trying to get past Defender "A". If
"A" steals the ball, "A" tries to dribble past "C" and over the end line.
If "C" manages to get past "A", "C" continues through Zone 2 and tries to
beat "B" over the end line. If "B" steals the ball, he takes on Player
"A" who has been waiting in Zone 1.
Coaching Points Attack: Try to unbalance defender, attack at pace,
try to face the defender as much as possible, change pace and direction.
Defense: Try to channel the attacker towards the sideline, use sideline as
a second defender.
var 1) Allow defender "A" to chase "C" into Zone 2 if beaten. "C" must then
hold "A" off while at the same time moving towards player "B". This also
makes "C" not give up on the ball after being beaten.
Leadership - older, more experienced players should be our leaders
on the field. Formation - 4-4-2? 4-3-3?
(optional) Goal Kicks, Corner kicks, kick-offs, throw-ins, free
kicks
Half-Court with Support - Use the penalty box for the field dimensions.
One goalie, 2 teams of 4 players, and one support player at the top of the
box.
Normal soccer rules apply except:
1. The support player can only move side to side at the top of the box providing
support to the team with possession.
2. A team, after winning possession, must make at least one pass to the support
player before attacking the goal.
3. Innacurate passes to the support player results in a restart by the support
player to the other team.
4. The keeper must throw or kick (goalkicks also) to the team which did not
have possession before he touched the ball.
5. The keeper cannot throw or kick to the support player.
6. Players can throw-in to the support player.
Tips: Encourage teams to attack from the wings and switch the point of attack
using the support player. For younger teams it usually works better if the
support player is a coach or one of the better players.
var 1) use different number of players in the game.
var 2) use more than one support player (perhaps assigned to a specific
team).
