Game play
The structure of the practice will be (approx.):

Warm Up - Control Jockeying - Divide team into groups of two with two cones about 10 yards apart and the two players facing each other, one with a ball. The  player with the ball uses feints and moves to try to touch a cone with the ball (under control) before the defender can touch the cone with his foot.  The defender "shadows" the player with the ball and neither player is allowed to cross the imaginary line between them. Good game to teach the player with the ball to sense when the defender is off-balanced.

1v1 - each player with a partner.  set up a large rectangle with equally spaced cones on the touchline sides.  Each pair of players plays within 1 "slice" of the rectangle.  1 player from each pair starts with the ball and has 15 sec. to dribble past the other player and stop the ball on the goal line (between cones).  The 2nd player attempts to contain the 1st, or steal if an obvious opportunity is present.  Players then switch roles.  var 1: 20 sec, var 2: no time restriction - free play and switch after score, var 3: remove every other cone and play 2v2.

(optional) Core Drill 2 - 1v1 - 2v2 - 1 line near midfield, each player with a ball, 1 line at 6 yd line to the side, 1 player in Goal.  First player from each line plays 1v1 to score or D controls.  D player retreives ball and players go on the end of the opposite line.  var: 2v2, 3v2.

(optional) 3-on-1 (2) pass and shoot, with GK - one line at the sideline with a bunch of balls(throw-ins), two lines facing the goal(forwards), one line to the side of the goal (GKs), and one line to the side, half-way between the goal and the forwards (defense).  The players are equally distributed among the lines.
Go - the first child at the sideline does a throw-in to the closer forward. They then start moving toward the goal dribbling the ball.  Work the ball, and then shoot (remember to choose, and try to hit, a target).  There will be 1 defensive player (from the defense line) who will try to intercept the pass and kick it past the attacking players, and a Goal Keeper.  Each player shifts to the end of the next line.

Corner Kick, Goal Kick and Throw-In strategy - set up quickly and try to begin play before the other team has everyone covered.  Players without the ball must move and be open!

Possession and Counter-Attacks - Organize two teams of 7 to 8 on a  half-field with goals and keepers. One team is the attacking team and can  score on either goal. The other team is the possession team and they can  score by stringing 7 to 10 passes together. The possession team can use  the keepers which makes it 10 v 8. Play four 5-6 minute quarters and alternate the attacking and possession teams each quarter. Encourage the  attacking team to attack swiftly to the least defended goal when
possession is won. Normal soccer rules except there is no offside.  var: attacking team can only 1 or 2-touch.

Core Drill with 3 vertical zones - split players into 2 teams with more players on offense, divide field into 3 vertical zones.  Create 2 small 5x5 square zones near midfield, one near each touchline.  Play a regular game in the main center zone except 2-touch only in the center zone (for both teams).  Too many touches is a foul (IFK to the other team).  D scores by landing a pass to D teammate in the retangular zone.
Tips: Encourage teams to work the ball down the side and then attack from the wings with a centering pass.  Fast action in the middle zone.  Good passing.  D needs strong clears. Var: change center zone: 1. outside the 18 yd line, 2-touch, inside the 18 yd line, 1-touch only (for both teams).

(optional) Scrimmage with other team (and/or World Cup with other team) or moving goal game

Penalty Kicks (team A vs team B)

Playoff Game Wed Oct 26 5:30P SHARP!, Final Sat Oct. 29 9A or 10:30A
