In our first practice will be concentrating on the skills of:

Offense

shooting
All our practices will be divided into sections for: individual skills, team skills, and game play.

The structure of the practice will be (approx.):

Parent talk - after practice

Juggling - bounce the ball off your foot or knee as many times in a row as you can.
var 1 - juggle off of foot - ankle locked, foot flexed, "catch" the ball with your foot, then toss
var 2 - foot to knee or knee to foot  Space - talk about our space/their space or good space/bad space while dribbling inside large square

Dribble and Stop - Players dribble at speed inside a large square.  Coach calls "stop", all players must stop the ball as quickly as possible.
show - fake kick - var 1 - players use fake kick and stop
show - fack kick and push
show - pull back - var 2 - players pull back an d stop
show - pull back and outside push, pull back and kick behind

Moves -
Pull Back-Roll backwards with sole of shoe.
Pull Back and V - pull back with one foot, then pass (to self) outward with same foot
Pull Back and V behind - pull back with one foot, then tap behind other foot
Cut - push ball across body with inside or outside of foot
Stop and Go - step over ball with front foot, tap ball back with inside of front foot to back foot, continue ball forward with inside of back foot
Fake pass and push - fake pass with inside of foot, continue and step over ball, push ball outside with outside of same foot
Step over and turn - step over ball (towards defender), continue spinning in same direction bringing other foot over the ball, facing back, play ballwith first foot
K&S move - step over and turn, but pull ball with other foot and continue spin until facing forward.
Scissors - step over ball (to outside), tap ball with outside of other foot

Dribble: Dribble through Cones - 2 players per 1 ball.  many cone "gates" set up around the field.  beginning - player 1 dribbles though as many goals as possible (not same twice) in 60 sec while player 2 follows and counts.  middle - player 1 dribbles thorugh as many goals as possible while player 2 "shadows".  Player 1 tries to lose the shadow.  adv 1 - player 1 dribbles while player 2 tries to prevent, adv 2 - player 1 dribbles while player 2 prevents or steals.

Triangle passing drill - create 4 or 5 triangles around the field.  Partners pass back and forth but can only pass to their open partner in the triangle.  The ball and the player must arrive in the triangle at the same time.

Rule of 3's - we always want to be aware of 2 other teammates - 1st and 2nd pass choice or 1st, 2nd and 3rd defender

Triangle keep away w/ overlap- groups of 3 players with one ball pass the ball among themselves while one D player tries to steal the ball.  If D steals, then last player to touch the ball is now in the middle.  Good passes,  good traps.

Rules - out of bounds, gk, ck,  fouls, offside

Passing by numbers - Everyone inside the square with one ball.  Each player gets a unique number 1...  While moving around the ball must be passed from player 1 to 2 to 3,  etc.  Communication!  After one ball is mastered, add a second.

2 man give and go - 2 lines between the 18 and mid-field, 1 D.  ball starts at middle cone.  Go - both players start to move.  Ball carrier passes (gives) to one of the open players.  Both open players Go and one receives the next pass, shoot and score.

3 man give and go - 3 lines between the 18 and mid-field.  ball starts at middle cone.  Go - all players start to move.  Ball carrier passes (gives) to one of the open players.  Both open players Go and one receives the next pass, shoot and score.  Var 1 -  start ball at outside cone, Var 2 - add D, Var 3 - add overlap: player 1 passes to 2 and overlaps 2.  2 quick passes to 3 who passes back to either open 1 or 2.
Core Drill - 1/3 field, regular goal, 2 flagged side goals near midfield.
        1. 7v4 (favor offense) w/ goalee
             - stress rule of 3/triangles
             - crisp passes
             - right angles
             - support
        2. 6v5 w/ gk
        3. 6v6 no gk
if time: short scrimmage with other team

 Shots on goal

Next Time: We will vote on our team name!

A trick to practice at home ... Hold the ball with both hands. Lift your knee, drop the ball and bounce it off your knee, then catch the ball. Try to do that ten times in a row. If you can do that, then try to bounce it twice off of your knee!

Other home practice ideas:

pass back and forth with your Father, Mother, or friend.
Try to shoot and hit a target like a cone or a tree. See how far away you can be and still hit the target.
