Positions
The structure of the practice will be (approx.):

Square Dance - Everyone dribbles within one 15 yd. square.  Keep moving and use all parts of the foot.  Try cut backs, pull backs, and different fakes against imaginary opponents.  Keep your head up to not bump into teammates.  Don't lose the ball.
1. Dribble to open space - try to stay spread out.
2. Move to open space - tap the ball into an open space, quickly follow and continue dribbling.
3. Attack!: All players protect their ball while trying to kick others outside of the square. If a player's ball is kicked out of the square they leave the square and wait for the round to end.

Quick Shot and Give and Go - two lines behind the 18 yd line.  One coach on each side of penalty area.  (for Give and Go: Player first passes to coach)  Coach executes centering pass and player shoots directly from the pass (no dribbling).  Retrieve ball and go to other line. Rotate players to the coach position so they make the 1-touch pass.

Up the side, Center pass, Shoot - two lines near midfield, cones diagonally toward corner.  From each line: 1st player dribbles up the side, 2nd player breaks to center.  When 1st player clears the last cone, center pass to 2nd player, who shoots as quickly as possible.  Retrieve ball and go to end of other line.

D by numbers - split the group in two, half on opposite sides of a 10 yd square.  Each side counts off, 1, 2, 3, 4, etc.  One side has the ball.
Go - coach calls a number from each line.  The person from the ball side tries to dribble past the other player all the way to the other line.  The D player tries to steal the ball (or at least contain the attacker).  Both players return to their original side.
tips: 1) first no instruction.
2) offense, watch the defender's body.  Dribble straight at the defender.  When they stab at the ball try to dribble behind them.
3) defense, watch the ball.  Don't go for fakes.  Try to stay between the O and your goal.  Be a pest.

3 Zone MitM - Divide rectangle into 3 zones (2 ends and a middle), with equal players in each zone.  The outside zone players try to pass the ball to the other outside zone while the inside zone players try to intercept the ball.  If the inside players get the ball they swtch with the group who had kicked it.  Keep the ball on the ground.
1) No instruction.
2) Can pass within zone as much as needed.
3) One player from the inside zone can invade an outside zone.
4) (maybe) Zone Game - players from each of two teams stay in each zone.

(optional) Keep Away - Two teams of 3 in a 5 yd square. One team does a throw in and dribbles and passes to keep possession of the ball while the other team tries to steal. If stolen, try to keep-away. If the ball goes out of bounds, throw-in and continue.

rules and positions

what not to do; free kicks; off sides; touchlines; out of bounds; throw-ins; goal kick; corner kick

we will briefly cover the positions of Forward, Fullback, and Goal Keeper.

Goal Keeping
Drill 1 - each child will stand opposite a partner, with one ball for each pair of players.  The first player will roll the ball to the second, and that player will practice scooping the ball and bringing it into the body.  Then player 2 will roll the ball to player 1.
Drill 2 - same as drill one, except each player will be on their knees and we will practice diving to save the ball using a pendulum roll. The key is to roll on the side of the body on the rib cage, and not on the front or the back. The arm closest to the ground should be extended so the player doesn't land on the elbow.
2-on-1 pass and shoot, with GK- one line at the sideline with a bunch of balls(throw-ins), one line facing the goal(forwards), one line to the side of the goal (GKs), and one line to the side, half-way between the goal and the forwards (defense). The players are equally distributed among the lines.
Go - the first child at the sideline does a throw-in to the other forward. They then start moving toward the goal dribbling the ball. Work the ball, and then shoot (remember to choose, and try to hit, a target). There will be 1 defensive player (from the defense line) who will try to intercept the pass and kick it past the attacking players, and a Goal Keeper. Each player shifts to the end of the next line.
15 min. (or whatever works) 4 vs. 4 game, goal keeper (or scrimmage with another team)

Our next practice, Tues. Sept. 3, 6P, CP2. Our first game, Sat. Sept. 7, 11:30A, CP2.
