U12 Pumas Pre-Game Warm-Up Drills

On game day please arrive at the field, ready to play, 30 minutes before game time. When you arrive, begin the following warm-ups:

  1. dribbling across the width of the field from touchline to touchline: there, back, there and back
  2. with a partner, jogging, passing back and forth across the width of the field from touchline to touchline: there, back, there and back
  3. with a partner, one partner does a good throw-in to the other partner who does a good trap, bringing the ball immediately under control to the feet. 10 times each.
  4. with a partner, get 2 cones and create a gate 1-2 yards wide, one player on each side of the gate. Pass the ball through the gate to your partner. 1 touch to control and then pass back. Start far, then move close, then move far, then close. [During this time the 2 goalkeepers will warm each other up]
  5. with a partner, on the same cone gate, pass-tap-pass drill.
  6. Full team. All players near midfield in 2 lines, in line with each post. First player in each line is offense, 2^nd player is D. Play 2v2 until score of D wins and clears the ball. [if goalkeepers are ready they can alternate in goal]
  7. if time remains, all players line up at midfield with a ball, coach at top of penalty arc. Player passes to coach, who 1-touches a side pass, player runs on and 1-touches a shot on goal.
