Mar. 18, 2010, 6P, Interlachen We will be working on the skills of: long passing **Passing warm-up - short, short, long in groups of 4, 2 on each end of 5x20 grid. pass short ball to close partner, rcv return pass, then send long to other group. repeat. **Go Long - 2 teams, one on each end of 30x25 grid, each player with a ball. Go - each team tries to send balls past the other team. players can move from side to side but must stay on their end of the grid. Play 2 min. Team with least number of balls on their side is winner. var: specify ground or lofted balls; specify driven, chipped or bending ball coaching points: proper technique; accuracy; **lofted pass test - create 5x5 boxes 20 yds apart. players in groups of 4, 2 at each box. player alternate sending lofted balls from one box to far box. 1 pt for each ball which hits far box on a fly. players take as many tries as they can in 10 min. record scores. **Baseball - Set up a baseball field. Ball is lightly passed and person at home who plays ball as far as possible. A foul ball is an out. Defending team must get ball through undefended goal by home plate before kicker can round all four bases and get home. Switch team who is up after three outs. **7v7 full field scrimmage w/ keepers or 2 4v4 games. coaching points: encourage dribbling to beat opponent, look for long passing and crossing opportunities, movement after passing, split D, 3rd man runs, "soccer talk", switch pt of attack
