Jan. 8, 6:30P, Irish Dome We will be working on the skills of: Dribbling for speed (players in pairs - for second activity) **Activity 1 - ball touches **Warm-Up 40x30 grid (as needed), all players moving across grid and dribbling. Warm-up moves: (as many as is appropriate) 1. inside/inside 2. inside/outside 3. outside/inside 4. laces 5. laces tap-tap 6. Toe touches moving forward alternating feet 7. Toe touches moving backwards alternating feet. 8. Side hop rolls moving forward, first right foot then back with left. 9. Outside foot touches with "fast feet" between touches. 12. Speed Changes with sudden stop, ("Hop-stop" or Magic Hop) 13. Outside to inside roll right foot across body, touch forward with left foot. 14. Inside to outside roll right foot out to the (right) side, touch forward with right foot. 15. Skip touches. (Skip forward touching the ball with the front foot, each skip.) Stretch Now, moving across the grid: 1. cut 2. Lunges. 3. Double Lunges. 4. Pull V's, alternating feet. 5. Pull "backwards" L's, alternating feet. (fake kick and pull back L) 6. Scissors. 7. Double scissors. 8. Fake kick and push outside and Fake kick with cut inside. 9. Rivelino (reverse scissors, outside push) 10. Matthews (in/out) - Fake Matthews (in/fake out/continue) - Reverse Matthews (out/in). **Activity 2 - fakes and sprints **fake and sprint 1. players in pairs, 1 ball per 2 players, player 1 with ball 2. all players on a touch line, another line 15-20 yds away. 3. players race to 2nd line, but 2nd player can't go until first player moves the ball coaching points: use fakes, off-balance defender 4. player 1 passes ball in front of player 2, then player 1 loops behind player 2, race to 2nd line **sprint w/ D 1. players in pairs. 2. O player on start line, D 2 yds closer to finish, facing O (a bit to the side), finish is 20 yds from O 3. O decides when to start. When O starts, D can turn. Race to finish. coaching points: head still and forward, lift knees, pump arms front to back (not across body), use fakes, off-balance defender **Activity 3 - 1v1 and gates **gate work 1. players in pairs, 1 ball per pair, cone gates distributed over a 40x40 grid (as appropriate). 1 player w/ ball 2. Go - player tries to dribble through as many gates as possible in 60 sec. D shadows. switch. can't dribble through the same gate twice in a row. 3. Next - light pressure 4. Next - full pressure 5. count # of gates coaching points: heads up, use your moves, simple works, unbalance the defender by getting him to lean one way then cut the other **gate race 1. 4 teams outside of 40x40 grid of cone goals (one on each side), with small cone goal in front of each team. Each team has 1 ball. 2. Go - 1 player from each team must dribble through goal, through n gates (can't repeat any gate), then pass ball back through their goal to next teammate. Some players will go twice to equalize teams. 3. add - alternating color goals; all must go through center goal (1st or last); 2 players at a time (next 2 can't go until both of 2 before have finished) coaching points: heads up, quick moves and cuts, ball control, keep it simple **Activity 4 - small sided games **6v6 scrimmages to small cone goals. coaching points: have fun, communicate, move, attackers should try to take on a D player 1v1
