Apr 16, 6:30P, EVHS 5 We will be working on the skills of: 2v2 attack and penetration **Passing/Receiving warm-up - 10 min 4 cones 10 yds apart set up like a "Y", 1-2 players per cone (2 at base and center if available), 1 ball at base of Y C D B (B stands in front of cone - cone is defender) A #1. receive side-on, pass. - B check away, rcv pass from A. B must rcv side-on, across body with back foot. C or D (correct side) check away, rcv 2-touch pass from B. A curved run to B, B curved run to C, C dribble then pass to next in A line. next A pass to other side. #2. rcv, back to D, outside foot turn. - B check away, rcv pass with inside of foot, from A. with same foot do 360 degree turn around cone (small steps), then C checks away, B passes to C using other foot. A curved run to B, B curved run to C, C dribble then pass to next A. next A pass to other side. #3. rcv and juke - C check away, rcv long pass from A. A overlap run around B to C position while B checks away, rcv pass from C. C curved run (outside) to B position while B jukes around cone and passes to D. D dribble then pass to A line, while B curves to D. next A pass to other side. Moves: cut, scissors, Matthews Coaching points: check away before rcv, explode after move, jog in place as ball is coming. lift foot to contact ball in center to trap. trap in direction of next pass. plant foot pointing toward pass. 2-touch. all passes solid (not too fast) and accurate (to correct foot of rcvr) **1v1 - 10 min 15x8 yd grids, line at end of each grid, balls at one side #1. basic 1v1 - defender passes to attacker and closes. attacker tries to dribble to other end line. One or two rounds to warm-up #2. basic 2v1 - use combinations: give&go, 1-2, overlap, takeover coaching points: positive first touch - move to space behind D, don't stop moving, cut-off D by moving body between D and ball, attack standing leg, 2v1: make defender commit ** 2v2 and keep-away - 2 groups. - 20 min. - group A (8 players) play 2 2v2 games to pugg goals. Change teams as needed. - group B plays +3 keep-away on 20x20 grid (5v2, 6v3, etc). Place a cone 20 yds away. If O completes 6 passes then D sprints around cone. If D intercepts and completes 1 more pass, O sprints around cone. switch players around. - change groups after 10 min. var: +2 pts for splitting D coaching points: 2v2 - side and overlap runs to overload D, don't look only to penetrate, timing, split D, dribble to create space/opportunity. keep-away: look for open player, heads-up, communicate, look to split D, move to isolate a defender - make 2v2 into 2v1 **4v4 - 4v4 to pugg - 20 min coaching points: diamond shape, don't be too quick to penetrate, communicate, use combinations, isolate D, create 2v1's, split D. ** scrimmage w/ keepers to big goals coaching points: passing and control. shoot when you can see the goal clearly.
