Apr. 21, 6P, Wolk Park We will be working on the skills of: 1v1 D **Warm-Up Killer + dribble - set up 5 cone (5 yds apart) line for killers, 1 line for each 4 players. 4 players line up at the 1st cone, 4 balls placed at the last cone. Go - 1st player does a killer, when they reach the last cone, get a ball and weave back to start, then next goes. Can be a race among the lines. Gate passing. 2 players, 1 ball, 2 cones set up as a 2yd gate, players on opposite sides of the gate. All passes 2-touch. 1. pass, tap, pass. 1->2 through gate. 2 touches ball to side, outside of a cone. 2->1. 1 touches ball to side. 1->2. continue. 2. pass far and close. move 1 step backwards after each pass until about 15 yds apart. Then move 1 step closer after each pass. 2-touch for long passes, 1-touch for short passes. 3. pass and run. 2 turns away, runs 3 steps, turns back and calls for ball. 1->2. Then 1 turns away, run 3 steps, turns back and calls for ball. 2->1. continue. 4. receive and turn. 1->2. 2 receives the ball turning away, dribbles 3 steps, turns back. 2->1. continue. coaching points: head up, clean passes, good first touch in correct direction, pace **basic D stance and movement 1. players in pairs, 1 ball per pair, players 10yds apart. 2. D passes to O, then closes as O player walk/dribbles. Do not steal, just practice moving with the O player 3. repeat multiple times coaching points: fast approach then brake, side on stance, eye on ball, attack strong foot, delay, don't fall for moves, 3 rules: get in the way, be a pest, never give up/never surrender. We always have someone on the ball. **block tackle 1. players in pairs. hand on shoulder and/or "shake hands" for balance. 2. raise 1 foot, knee bent, toes up, lock ankle. Push foot to foot for 15 sec. 3. switch feet. repeat multiple times. 4. Next - place ball between players. Count 1, 2, 3, block - both strike ball at the same time. Keep balance. coaching points: keep good balance, keep ankle locked, strike through ball, don't side step but place plant foot next to ball, block as or after player hits (before let's him change his move) **poke tackle coaching points: don't over-extend, keep balance, watch for the ball slowing down, poke before or after attacker taps ball (when attack can't change the ball's direction), poke quickly (other tackles are shoulder tackle and slide tackle) **1v1 1. 2 10x15 grids, half the team at each, half the players at the end of each grid 2. coach plays ball to middle, 1st player from each side comes out and plays 1v1, dribble across far end line, go to end of line 3. Next - dribble across near endline coaching point: fast approach then brake, side on stance, eye on ball, attack strong foot, delay, don't fall for moves, 3 rules: get in the way, be a pest, never give up/never surrender. timing for block tackle **2v2+K to goal 1. split into 2 teams w/ pinnies. white has 1 line at midfield, 1 at side of goal. same for yellow 2. Go - coach rolls ball into play. 1st player from each line enters field. 3. team 1st player to control the ball is O, other team is D. Play to goal. return to end of opposite line 4. keep score coaching points: play tight to ball carrier, loose on open player, 2nd defender plays man and pass. **6v6+K scrimmage If D steals must get ball past "back-court line". coaching points: delay O, don't always try to steal - especially last D
