1. download the VUSC Player Evaluation form at http://www.bjb.org/soccer/coachinfo/VUSC_Player_Evaluation.xls
  2. save a copy of the form for your use:
    1. select File->Save As
    2. save as teamlevel_Player_Eval_year - i.e. BU10M_Player_Eval_2008
  3. open the file
  4. in the Form tab, enter the Coach and Team name in the upper right side
  5. create a tab for each player: (please do not submit an entirely separate spreadsheet for each player!)
    1. at the bottom of the spreadsheet you can see a "tab" area with the word Form
    2. right click on the word Form
    3. click on Move or Copy
    4. Click on Form
    5. click OK.
Do this once for each player on your team so in the end you will have as many "Form" tabs as players on the team.
  6. 6. rename the tabs.
    1. at the bottom of the spreadsheet you can see a "tab" area with the word Form
    2. double click on the word Form
    3. type in a players name
    4. hit return.
Repeat this step for each of your player.
  7. rate the players. Using the 1-4 scale, rate each player in the areas noted. Sums for each section and an overall sum are automatically kept.
Rate the player relative to players on the team and players at that same level you have seen. i.e. if you are rating a U11C2 team, rate your players against other U11C2 players, not against a higher/lower level or an ideal player.
At the bottom of the tab you may enter notes. Also, give the player an overall 1-4 rating and list them as being in the 1st, 2nd or 3rd third of your team (i.e. if you split your team into top (1), middle (2) and bottom(3) groups, into which one would this player fall?).
  8. When this is complete, list the players on the Ranking tab, from highest to lowest. If any additional notes are needed to explain the ranking, please enter them on this tab. If you have primary keepers, you can rank them below.

Tips. I think it is better to try to rank your team in one sitting if possible. The first one or two may take some time, but once you are on a roll you will find this form easy to use. Try not to agonize over your rankings. While you are free to review and change any of your grades or ranking, your first or gut reaction is usually right.
