Hi All,
I hope you all enjoyed the holidays.  The season is now beginning for some teams with winter indoor practices.

I wanted to make you all aware of some upcoming opportunities and other information.

1. MYSA Annual Winter Symposium will be Friday 2/1 and Saturday 2/2.  In addition to administrative information, there will be field and classroom coaching sessions both days!  Information and registration can be found at http://www.mnyouthsoccer.org/events/symposia.cfm.  Registration for the coaching sessions costs $40, includes Saturday lunch, and will be reimbursed by VUSC!  Just register, pay, and send your receipt to Ann Liberty.  This will be a great learning opportunity.

2. New Coaches manual and curriculum.  In advance of the VUSC annual meeting, I'd like you to look at the new coaches manual and curriculum, especially since indoor training is starting for some teams next week.  You can find the manual at http://www.bjb.org/soccer/coachinfo/VUSC Coaches Manual - US Soccer.pdf and the curriculum at http://www.bjb.org/soccer/coachinfo/VUSC Coaches Curriculum.pdf
Other information can be found at http://www.bjb.org/soccer/coachinfo/.   These pages will also be linked off of the VUSC website.  Please let me know if this information is useful and what other information you'd like to see.

3. MYSA D and E courses.  Watch http://www.mnyouthsoccer.org/coaches/clinics.cfm for information on local upcoming coach education courses.  Currently there are only two more D courses scheduled, Plymouth 1/10-2/24, and Rochester 2/8-2/24.  One VUSC coach did attend the Eden Prairie course in Nov and Dec and I know of at least 1 coach attending Rochester (a concentrated course over two consecutive weekends).  There are a number of E courses though none are local.  Please watch the MYSA website for more offerings (and I will send updates as well).  These courses are very useful and worthwhile.

4. Upcoming VUSC coach education.  We will have a coach education session at the VUSC Annual Meeting in Feb including 2 special guests.  More coach education sessions are in planning!

Please let me know if you have questions or comments on anything or any of the above items.

   Thanks,
   Barry Caplin
